At Long Close School, we take immense pride in consistently exceeding the National Average in our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) profile test results.

93% of children achieved a Good Level of Development (GLD) at the end of Reception, reflecting their exceptional progress across various developmental areas.
43% achieved Exceeding in comprehension, showcasing their advanced language and understanding skills.
36% achieved Exceeding in word reading, highlighting their strong reading abilities.
43% achieved Exceeding in number, demonstrating their proficiency in mathematics.

Since 2018, Long Close has proudly held the esteemed title of a Model School, recognized by Ruth Miskin Training and Oxford University Press.

We have earned this prestigious status because our focus on teaching children to read is central to our educational approach. Our commitment to Read Write Inc. Phonics is unparalleled, with dedicated daily hour-long sessions and weekly practice sessions for staff. Our phonics training begins from the age of 2, ensuring our students receive the best start for a lifetime of successful reading.

Prep

2023/24 Prep School Results

At Long Close School, we are absolutely delighted with our students' outstanding academic achievements, as demonstrated by our 2024 Granada Learning (GL) assessments. These assessments, conducted in British Curriculum Schools worldwide, have yielded remarkable results:

Our GL assessment not only provides a national context for attainment but also serves as excellent preparation for those interested in taking the 11+ exam in Year 6, as it aligns with the system used by Buckinghamshire.

In the Prep School, many of our children choose to sit the 11+ exam and are offered places at selective secondary schools of their choice. In 2024, destinations for our leavers included Upton Grammar, Langley Grammar, Burnham Grammar, and Herschel Grammar. Notably, 82% of children passed their 11+ exam in 2024, significantly higher than the average pass rate of 30%.

The success of our students can be attributed to a combination of our unique individualised approach to our pupils and their learning, and the exceptional teaching and experiences they receive from Nursery onwards.

Notably, an impressive 100% of our pupils secured admission to their desired post-16 destinations. Among them, an impressive 78% will continue their educational journey in selective grammar schools, including prestigious institutions like St Bernard's, Burnham Grammar, Upton Court Grammar, and Langley Grammar.

As a school situated in a highly selective area, these exceptional results underscore our position as a school committed to continuous improvement. Our journey towards becoming the number one school of choice for our local community is evident. The motto "We aim for higher things" resonates with us, and this summer, both teachers and pupils, with unwavering family support, have truly risen to the occasion.

Long Close celebrates 2024 GCSE results

Long Close is a school where academic excellence is nurtured and achieved. Our outstanding teachers give individual attention to every pupil, setting the bar higher than would be expected nationally, and instilling a strong work ethic that brings richly deserved results.

Long Close School students celebrated a fantastic set of GCSE results in 2024, and we congratulate them wholeheartedly as they pass this important milestone.

As a school, we have exceeded the national average results which include the number of students achieving a grade 7 – 9. This year, 34% of our students have achieved these top grades, significantly higher than the national average of 22%.

Overall, 90% of our students achieved grades 4 - 9, compared to the national average of 67%.

We are so proud to see our students go on to highly regarded Sixth Forms and Further Education Colleges, and esteemed Universities to continue their studies and embark on their chosen career paths.
